How a bonfire night works
Book your slot
Choose a night, a slot (6, 7 or 8 PM) and tell us how many people. We'll confirm your spot on the beach and check burn conditions for that day.
We set it up
Fire pit, seasoned firewood, tiki torches, a beach chair for everyone, a table, a trash can, the Bluetooth speaker and the s'mores kit are in place and the fire is lit before your start time.
Enjoy, then walk away
When your time's up we put the fire out safely and pack everything out. No ashes, no hauling, no cleanup.
Good to know
Bonfires run November 1 through April 30. From May through October sea turtles nest and hatch on Amelia Island's beaches, and fires on the sand are off limits to protect them, so we don't offer bonfires in those months. In season, beach fires still depend on the county's burn rules and the day's conditions. We handle every permit and every rule, use a contained fire pit, and set up only where fires are allowed, so the whole thing is hassle-free on your end. Each bonfire is a 2-hour slot: 6–8, 7–9 or 8–10 PM. After you book, we call you to arrange the location: a beach access as close and convenient to where you're staying as the rules allow. If a burn ban is called or the weather turns, we'll call you as soon as we know and either move you to another night or refund you in full.
There's no maximum group size: it's $10 per person over six. Past about ten guests we recommend booking two set-ups so everyone has a seat at a fire. For a special occasion (proposal, birthday, reunion), call us and we'll plan it with you.
Questions about this rental
What happens to my bonfire if the weather turns?
Bonfires depend on local burn conditions and the forecast. If a burn ban is called or the weather won't cooperate, we'll call you as soon as we know and either move you to another night or refund you in full. Your choice.
When is bonfire season?
November 1 through April 30. Sea turtles nest and hatch on our beaches from May through October, and beach fires aren't allowed during that time, so we don't offer bonfires in those months.
What times can I book, and how long does it last?
Three 2-hour slots every night: 6–8 PM, 7–9 PM and 8–10 PM. Beach fires here are allowed after sundown only, so in the darkest months the 6 PM slot starts right as the light goes. Set-up happens before you arrive and cleanup after, so the full 2 hours are yours.
How many people can come?
As many as you like. The $275 package covers up to 6 people, and it's $10 per person over that. Once you're past about 10 guests we recommend booking two set-ups, so there are two fire pits and nobody is stuck in the back row.
Where does the bonfire happen?
On a county beach where fires are allowed, at the beach access most convenient for you. After you book, we call you and work out the spot together, usually the closest access to where you're staying. You walk out to a fire that's already lit.
Do I need a permit?
No. We handle all permits and the rules, every time. Your part is to show up.
What's included?
Fire pit, firewood and lighting, a beach chair for every guest, a table and a trash can, a Bluetooth speaker, four tiki torches, and a s'mores kit with Hershey's chocolate, graham crackers and marshmallows. Everything is set up on the beach before you arrive and fully cleaned up after.
Can I have a bonfire on the beach myself?
Fernandina Beach regulates open fires on the beach, and the rules change with conditions. Our set-up handles that for you with a contained fire pit, so the easiest answer is to let us do it.
